Environmental Laboratory

This project strives to serve as an interactive interface between the students of Muncie Central, the community of Muncie in general, and nature. Access to nature, and an education are some of the most important aspects of a person’s life. This facility is designed to accomodate not only these two things, but it also strives for community engagement, sustainability, accessibility, and efficiency. Through the usage of passive and active strategies, renewable and sustainable materials, and high efficiency design, this space provides a strong sense of community for visitors, allows for visitors to get in touch with nature, and provides a positive learning environment. This project also offers unique and accessible learning facilities though the inclusion of labaratory spaces, outdoor classrooms, community gardens, and accessible classrooms. Designing with the community of Muncie, sustainability, accessibility, and efficiency in mind has yielded this facility, and it serves as a positive addition to the Muncie Central, and to the community in general.
